Towards the end of July in 2007, three of us from South Central PA headed out for Rockies Gold, a collection of 'do it yourself' rides organized by Wing Nutzz (Dave from the GL1800.com board), who did an excellent job of compiling rides from Montrose, CO. Although he said this was a one time event, I have a feeling he will be asked to provide a repeat performance.
We put on over 8,000 miles, taking the Interstate to Manitou Springs. We took the cog RR to Pikes Peak, rode the Point to Point Highway and through Rocky Mt. State Park, then continued to Montrose. From there, we rode over Independence Pass, toured the canyons of Utah and Colorado, saw the Black Canyon and rode the Million Dollar Highway to Durango. Then it was on to Four Corners, the Grand Canyon and the Heart Attack Grill in Tempe, AZ. Starting home, US 60 took me through a canyon while Tom & Roger took the high roads over the Coronado Trail.
All the pictures and video will never substitute for being there. I've organized the photos & videos by the places we visited. You will need broadband to view the video and slide shows. For easier access, all pages are linked to this page.
