About the GCMR
The GCMR grew out of a chance comment on the Wings On The Internet e-mail discussion group revolving primarily, but not only, around Honda Gold Wing motorcycles.  WOTI members will accept, in fact hunger for, just about any excuse for a ride, especially if it centers around windy roads and good food.  Sometime during early summer of 2000, we found out that George and Pam Hockhousen were coming up from Maine to partake of the northern air, sights, and folks in the Ottawa area.  That was good enough news that four WOTI friends from Ottawa, along with Montreal WOTI'er David Evelyn and his wife Candy, decided that as many as possible gather up in the Ottawa area of eastern Ontario, Canada, during the first weekend in August, 2000, for a sampling of "historical" Canadian cuisine.

This has now become an annual event and members of WOTI from Canada and the U.S.  will make plans to meet during the first weekend in August in the Ottawa area of eastern Ontario.  I and some WOTI friends plan some pleasant and/or exciting motorcycle rides in the area and, of course, include the appropriate stops for our version of traditional Canadian cuisine.

You may well ask! Just what is ...

Timmy's coffee? ......  Why, coffee is just about the best coffee north of the southernmost point you ever heard of! They say it's addictive, but I'm not quitting just to find out.  I could. I just don't wanna.
Poutine? ......  Lessee.  It's French fries slathered with gravy and covered in cheese curds that you ...  "poutine yor mout' . A true butt builder!  You might as well skip the next Weight Watchers meeting.
Beavertails? ......  Well, it's beavertails! We get 'em from Hookers.  You've heard of Hooters, right? Well, we get beavertails from Hookers.  Downtown, on the market.  ;")

Mae West? ......  It's a dessert pie - cream filling in white cake, chocolate covered.  On a hot summer's day, it adds that certain "Je ne sais quoi" to your fingers and cheeks.  Another good one is Jos Louis cakes, and you can even find the recipe for it here.

You can also check out what other travelers have had to say about this stuff here.(ok, so I lost the link somehow and now have to go find it.  Sorry.  ;-(

So, enjoy the site.  Poke around.  Check it out.  Who knows ...  maybe you'll be part of our next crop of photos memorializing some good times with great people! I'd love to get to meet more of you.
